There were over 1100 years of safe driving entered into the drawing for the 2002 GMC 4x4 Pickup. When his name was called, Richard stood quietly for a minute until the driver next to him said, "Hey, isn’t that you? Aren’t you Richard Cates?"

"I guess I was numb when I heard Mr. Anderson call my name, kind of like it wasn’t real, a dream", said Richard Cates after winning the Safety Pick-Up Truck Award, at Driver Appreciation days held at the Gary Terminal in Gary, Indiana.

Well it is no dream now, Richard who has been driving full time since 1991, (with ATS 3 1/2 years), is the first winner of the "Pick Up on Safety" pickup truck.

Drivers are the backbone of our industry. "I am very proud and happy to be able to give this truck away to Richard because of his safe driving history", said ATS President, Rollie Anderson.

Richard concluded, "I’ve been wanting a pick-up for about 10 years. Saving up the money while supporting your family is a slow process. For a guy who can’t win a free soda on a twist off cap, to WIN the truck I’ve been working so hard for, is a dream come true. Thank you ATS."
